I have both and a lot of the King videos haven't been updated in years. The information is current, but the videos are old. Sometimes they do voice overs or text to correct regulations that have changed since the videos were made.
Sporty's is constantly updating their videos, so the video quality is better, and in my opinion Sporty's iPad app is much easier to use than the King app.
Honestly, you can't go wrong with either one, but I think Sporty's is a little better. You should also spend a lot of time studying the Instrument Flying Handbook, Instrument Procedures Manual and AIM as well. There is so much to learn for the instrument rating and the videos go through the information so fast it is impossible to learn everything by watching the videos. I use them more for review then anything else.
