I am considering purchasing an FAA approved helicopter simulator that can be configured for the S300, R-22/44, Bell-206 and A350. It is a considerable expense, but the option I am looking at is a mobile one, enclosed in a nice air conditioned trailer. It also has a lookdown feature so you can practice hovering and long line.
I am in an area where there are a lot of student helicopter pilots and this will also be a great tool for a turbine transition, but I want to get a feel for if this would even be worth it.
How is the demand for simulator use, or is using the actual aircraft preferred, even though this would save the student money. Does being mobile sound enticing at all?
