FIA and AGI written exam
okay so I passed my FOI written, and now i'm about to take the Flight instructor Airplane written exam (FIA). The gleim points out that the Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI) written is simply 12 more questions which are also included here in the book. So basically what's the deal with being a ground instructor? I figure I'll take both exams in the same day since it's only 12 more questions. Can I do this? Or do I have to become a flight instructor first and then take the AGI written?? How does it work?

You can take the AGI without having taken the FIA, and vice versa. The way I understand it, if you're a Flight Instructor the only advantage of having a Ground Instructor certificate is that you don't have to keep records of who you've endorsed for written exams.
