S1,

Bravo! I could read what you have to say all day! Too long? I don't think so. You've been where we're going. How can you be too prepared? Thanks again.

Spike

The 30 question test was a b***ch.

How did you prepare for the test, anything other than the Ace book.

Don't know if it's true, but I heard that Emirates is delaying many of it's aircraft orders. Any truth to that? And if so, will it delay those that have class dates?

Just wondering cause a buddy of mine has a May 1st class date and he gave NWA his resignation letter.

Emirates is receiving an average of one aircraft per month for at least the next 7 years. Any rumors of delays can be attributed to Airbus and all their problems with incompetance and indecision. The A380 has already been delayed 6 months and it looks like it might be another 3 to 6 on top of that before we see the first one here. The other aircraft that is delayed is the A340-600. Airbus have said they are studying an enhanced version which will take some of the benefits of the A350 and incorporate them in the A340-600 Emirates wisely said, " well, we'll wait for that one to come out because we don't want the one we buy to be obsolete right after we purchase it".

The company is understaffed as it is, so any delays will just help training to catch up with the demands of the new aircraft and additional flying. It would be more likely that your friend have his course date moved up rather than back.

The day I took the test was a spur of the moment thing. So just my inate talent and outstanding intelligence in all things aeronautical got me through. I know I got three right out of 30. Most everybody came out of the test muttering and chuckling "what the hell?" There are three answers to each question and as TP has said, the "Ace the Pilot Technical Exam" can help. Its on Amazon.com. I was totally unprepared to take the test and just took a wag at most of the answers. The questions were worded differently than any FAA type, believe it was written in "English" if you know what I mean. My best advice, don't sweat it. Get the book, look it over, and if you have gotten this far in your aviation career, you can probably do ok. Plus it has been only 27 years since taking my last FAA exam. What the hell can I remember?

346's belong to EK but do not want them, latest is they are trying to swap for more 380's
The delay or lack of 346's will not be changing the hiring as we are in deep s... wrt to crewing and hiring.
1 777/m and 1/380/m starting sometime in 07 and they are way behind,a delay in the 380 would be helpful and cnx 346's would give them a fighting chance to get the crewing up.
The plan was for @ 400 this year not including the 40ish that have left.
Most of the new hires will go out to Silicon Oasis( you can get a little info on there website just goggle it),mixed impressions on that.
They plan to get the hours down to 75 /m but at the rate of hiring and crewing I might be dead by then, its a real catch 22.
DEC's are not poplar but will not be an issue in the cockpit.
Some changes wrt fleet transfer and upgrades, they really want to upgrade from within and try to keep both fleets @ 3years.
Inflation is getting out of control and the traffic you have to see it to beleive it.Go to 7days.ae and you can get a little gen on Dubai the Gulf News or Good News is exactly that nothing bad ever gets put in it, but some good stuff for an idea of what is going on in Dubai and the UAE.
