Airbus VS boeing

What going on with boeing!!! Airbus is picking up every order in dubai airshow!! I personally think boeing has better airplanes. It is also political, (iraq war).

Any comments

thanks

12 more 777's for EK. We're now the biggest 777 operator in the world.

Not much "politics" there.

As an aside, it makes sense to keep a split fleet, IMHO. Keep the eggs in 2 baskets, so to speak...

well heres an excerpt of an email that was sent out to EK. heres their official position

"Candidates who are up to 500 hours below total and/or multi-engine jet hours are invited to submit their applications and may be offered the opportunity to attend a selection programme in Dubai. Successful candidates must, however, meet published minimum hours requirements prior to joining"

so it sounds like theyre sticking with 4000 TT to be hired, 3500 to interview

nah everyone knew EK was looking for BIG airplanes. they did not make that a secret. They asked Boeing to make a extra capacity version of the 787 and Boeing didnt do it. So obviously they went with the 350. no brainer they want BIG airplanes

Anybody know EK's position on people that reapply? In 2006 I interviewed, tested and did a sim check in ATL. Subsequently I was asked to Dubai for further interview but I declined because my carrier was about to maker a big BK payout. Plus I knew I was going to get checked out in the 747-4. Is it worth my time to fill out the application again? Any inside info is appreciated?:) Thanks...

Only the HR people are going to be able to answer that. I would suggest going to the info seminar coming up and ask them directly.

Dubai Aerospace Leasing bought 100 Boeings, Emirates had the B777 top up order, and Qatar bought 30 B787s. Not a bad week in the life of Boeing.

Correct, sadly the B787 is just too small for Emirates' needs.

Plus you have to remember, when could someone get onto the 787 line at this point. Most positions are taken for the next 5 years or so. So move out five years and the 350 will be ready to launch with the requirements EK needed. Plus do you think maybe Airbus gave EK a little sweetner on the price to get the aircraft moving? Right now it looks like EK has AB in its pocket and can dictate all sorts of conditions, that is with the massive 380 order and now 350 order.

And if you read the blurbs, EK is still trying to get Boeing to move on a longer range 747-8 pax version.
