Or....also depends if you like to make your own coffee and heat your own meal without having to worry about anyone in the back or have someone serve it to ya and constantly bugging you about turbulence or if the touchdown is right at 12 after or 13 after the hour....;)

Those of you on contract with Parc, what do you do for health insurance for your family? Parc told me that my family would be covered (BUPA) if they lived in Japan and spent less that 28 days at a time in the US. I have applied and plan on commuting, and have my family stay in NC

My suggestion would be to tell them that they are going to arrange for insurance for your family or you are going to go with CREW. BUPA has a US coverage option but PARC doesn't want to pay it. If PARC is going to seriously compete for the US pilots coming over here, they are going to have to fix their insurance. Negotiate with them and make them pony up the money or go with CREW would be my recommendation.

Parc said they are trying to get a US insurance carrier since more americans are applying. They also said that the BUPA (american option) doesn't really cover anything in the states, or does it? LostInAsia, what do you do for your family's insurance?
From what I understand, since I have already applied through parc, it's not a good idea to apply for the same contract with a different leasing company. I applied a week and a half ago and am still waiting to hear back and I don't want to mess it up.

BUPA does cover the contractor in the US but not your family, they do offer supplemental insurance for your family in the states but I don't know the details or cost since my wife and I had insurance from another source, that you will have to get in contact with PARC for. As for the application process, most folks do apply with both contract companies and go with the first that offer them an interview, this was my case and the case of others that I have spoken to and this doesn't seem to be a problem. Now trying to jump ship after you have signed with one agency, that is a no, no.

I received 3 e-mails from Parc today about the AJV 767 job. The first two were the same but they had only the T & Cs for 767 F/O and the body of the e-mail said they were only hiring F/Os now. I then got an e-mail an hour later with the T&Cs for both positions. I replied back to get clarification but I have not heard anything yet. I was wondering if anyone had some information on what was going on at AJV. I am in a bit of a hurry since my time to apply for a leave of absence is running short.

There is a rumor floating around that they will stop hiring DEC's for AJV as well (they stopped hiring DEC's at AJX about a year ago) but so far they haven't pulled the plug. If you look at the effects of the economical downturn it only makes sense, right now AJV is pretty fat on captains and the loads have shrink down to half the loads that they were carrying just a couple of months ago, both FDX and UPS have canceled some slots in NRT and AJV picked up some of those slots and the guys have increased to about 45 hours a month but not as much freight as before (captains being paired together about half of the time) The slow down of deliveries and the problems with the 787 has left ANA with a lot of cash at hand from the sales of their hotels and that gives them a good cushion to wait out the world recession, they are betting that it would not last very long so they are continuing with their expansion plans to be ready for the increased flying from the expansion of HND and NRT. They are still receiving new 767's (both cargo and passengers) and the hiring of F/O's will continue for both AJV and AJX, the consensus among the line pilots is that they will stop the DEC hiring for a while because the economical downturn but they haven't yet.

how is the "BMI" issue with AJV and AJX? A-net (Q400) it is a big issue for them.
