GE90 08-07-2008 11:30 PM

I just like the GE90's. But I'm not on the 777 and not a new joiner.

Can anyone explain what NAM means?

Thanks in advance.

Ahhhh...Anchorage. I'm sitting here now on a lovely 11 day W pattern with some CRM and a Medical thrown in for luck. On the upside it is actually a pretty nice day out there today.

Thanks for the information Myoface. I've never been happier to be wrong about something. Cathay had always been appealing to me since I grew up in Bellingham, just an hours drive south of YVR in the states. I assumed I wouldn't be able to be based there since Cathay states that they won't sponsor anyone anywhere except for Hong Kong. I guess if you're just commuting there to work, that's a way around that problem. I wouldn't mind being based in ANC either since I have family there. What's the 4 year restriction in Hong Kong about? Thanks!

DEFOs who started after Jan 1 08 may not bid to HK until they have been at CX 4 years. I did not understand the reasoning they gave, probably cause i was not really paying attention to it. I would not mind going to HK in the future, but not in the immediate future. Go look on the Canadian consulate website, you can overnite in Canada to fly a foreign registered vessel or AC. I talked to the Consulate in SEA and they confirmed that I could indeed commute to YVR and be based there with no visa, but could not live there unless i had a visa.
good luck

Okay, what does the DE in DEFO stand for?

TimSmith 08-11-2008 04:23 PM

Direct Entry...i.e. no SO duty for you.

Most of our airplanes are JAA certified but no CX is a HKG based company.
