Agreed! If their is some clause in the contract allowing either party to terminate then their is no problem.

Oh cool...then we agree! happy days!
To your other point about if the pay was that bad why take the job? We are a commodity...right now there are alot of us, so the buy (airlines) can be picky and pay less. At some point there will be more pilots and we can charge more. Lets say you are working for Airline A and airline b comes along and says, Hey we are desperate for pilots, I will double your pay. So you go to A and tell them that you are leaving for more money, they have the ability to revise that contract and pay more if they really want to keep you. Believe me, I would much rather stay at a company forever (who wants to go thru all that training over and over) but you have to also think of yourself and your family and your future. For me to leave a company, the next job would have to be far better than what I was leaving to justify the additional headache!

Sadly US dropped a lot of qualified pilots into the world market, things will change as soon as the dollar gains some strength.

i've talked to several pilots in china now with wasinc. for what its worth contracts don't mean anything in china - they will do whatever they feel like doing. don't think that because you sign a contract with wasinc it's any different. wasinc is just a headhunter for filling seats. once you get to china you are basically on your own and wasinc can't do much. the chinese will make up rules regardless of what the contract says, and they will be right because you are the foreigner. i've talked to pilots who are in china now who say wasinc often won't respond to emails when there is a problem because there is nothing they can do. also expect to be working illegally on a tourist visa for an indefinite period of time, at least a year, they will tell you it's ok but it is illegal. you won't get any more than a few days off the schedules change every other day you will not be able to commute. expect two months to a year to be reimbursed for anything and the pollution is bad. the good side: it's cheap and you will probably save some money.

If anyone needs to get there circling restriction removed I am looking for a partner. I spoke with FSI Houston today and was told it's $2045 but If I bring someone with me we each get a $300 discount. Whole process takes about 5 hours and can be done in one day.

I am thinking about trying the flying in China for Grand China Express(through wasinc) and want to insure that I have as much info as possible. (Primary concern is contract penalties for leaving early.)
Anyone got a friend there now?

Thanks.
My buddy flies for JALways through a WASIC contract. I think his first contract was a 2-year (or maybe 3?) contract which was not prorated so leaving early would've definitely hurt him... I think his second contract is only a yearly contract but I am not sure... He said Wasic has always been there for him with any and all issues he's had in the last 3 years...

He seems to like working there but he is not sure what will happen when JAL gets rid of the classic 747s next month. They've never furloughed before so he's hoping he'll get to sit home with pay until they bring other aircraft on board but no one knows for sure...

Has anyone heard from pilots who have gone for an interview yet?
