EK receives much attention but which are considered best of the rest Gulf carriers for an expat looking for a change?

The productivity pay threshold was raised roughly 17%. For instance a 31 day month could see someone in overtime pay once over 78 credit hours. Now it is 92 hours. Some guys rarely had overtime, but others managed quite a bit. Just depended on fleet and position as well as bidding strategy. Now I foresee the company scheduling pilots for up to 17% more flying thus keeping the need for new pilots down to a minimum. This will also affect upgrade numbers in the future. Not a good development

NY Times Article on Dubai
For those thinking of working in the ME, I forwarded this NY Times article to a few friends I have working there.

Watch your six!

@Southbound

That used to be true...given the dramatic changes to our T's & C's (plus, who knows what else they have up their sleeves), I would really believe someone needs their head examined if they want to come to EK.

I have brought in six friends in my time here, and I would not advise any other of my friends to join EK...if I did, they wouldn't be my friends anymore! As we all know, it's a big mess right now, and EK are taking advantage of that.

There are other carriers in the region that are expanding that are parts of govt's who have very deep pockets.

My personal opinion:

1) Etihad
2) Qatar
3) Gulf Air
4) Air Arabia
5) Emirates
