Mom Note:

I am moving your thread out to the different forums so you get, hopefully, maximum exposure. Also would like you to think of any consequences (intended or unintended) of posting your phone number. As a precaution, I have edited it out, but PM me if you'd like it back here for the whole world to see.

Have you searched the forums for threads on flying for charities, non-profits and NGOs in Africa? That might be something interesting, but I don't know if it pays well.

With both the Caravan and King Air you might want to ty Solenta, out of S Africa but with operations in many parts of the continent. They fly the Caravan on a number of contracts, including the Red Cross and DHL. Trackmark is another C208 operation that you might want to try.

Heather Stuart owns the place, below are their details:
Trackmark
PO Box 44007
Nairobi-Wilson Airport
Nairobi Kenya
telephone (2) 50 11 04

Solenta Aviation
P O Box 469,
Lanseria, 1748
Johannesburg,
South Africa
Telephone +27 (0) 11 707 4000

One note, there are always a number of pilots who show up in Africa on their own accord, so you will likely find that simply applying will not get you anywhere. If you can't just go without a job in hand (and I understand where you are coming from here but it's not the optimum way to do this), best that you do as much phoning around as possible; you might get lucky.

If you had a friend there you might be able to get a job without showing up, or at least hassling everybody. I recon at this juncture there are still a number of people who either show up or are connected, but with your ratings, and I assume one of your languages is French, you'll be fine. Just bug them.

Good luck, let me know how it goes. Here are a couple more African C208/King Air operations:

KoruPilot

Your help is highly appreciated. I really have to thank you for taking the time to help a fellow pilot. And I am ready to go down to Africa, is there anyone out there that can help me or give me direction? Africa is pretty big guy’s, I need help on.
• What countries are hiring?
• Is there anyone that is willing to help me when I arrive?

I will be so thankful if someone have inside info, aviation: It’s who you know, not what you know.
And one more think to Korupilot, I love your AC. My dream is to fly the 747
Thanks guys and Happy Holiday

No worries dude. A very good friend who flies for HKG Express now, did fly for both Sefofane and Solenta. He still has friends there so I'll see if I can find out what the story is on the current situation. A few months ago he said that if a guy had a C208 type with time then they'd be in a good position, and as you also are typed on the King Air (and you speak French?), then even better. If Portuguese is also on the list you'll have no trouble at all.

You know, I've flown a lot of planes in a lot of countries, including flying FAC planes for water bombing in Canada (there's a video on this site that I put together of my FAC flying if you're inclined to check it out), but the 747 is THE most fun I've had in an airplane. Yesterday we did a visual approach into ANC from ORD, I kicked out the automatics at 5000 on downwind and I have to tell you, the thing is so much fun to fly like that. It's like doing a visual in a Navajo that weighs 280 ton. A beautiful plane that's a dream to fly.

One thing, and I digress here (sorry Vagabond, but you know what my posts can get like), I have flown with guy's in heavies who always, and I mean always use the automatics anywhere above 500 ft, on departure and landing. It gets to the point where these guy's, in my opinion, become really afraid to fly the plane. This is an absolute shame and an insult to the good people at Boeing who went out of there way to build us such a fine beast. My message, show the designers the respect they have earned by hand flying the thing now and again; you're dream is to fly it, great, just make sure that when you get the chance you do "fly" it.

The disclaimer; Of course It's always discretion and I wouldn't hand fly onto the LOC of an ILS/PRM, but on clear blue day's, or a quiet ILS, hand fly as much as you can when you get the chance to in the future, you'll have a massive grin on your face for the rest of the day.

Good luck and all the best. I'll get back to you on what my buddy says is the current situation.

I know what my friend? every since the first time I touched an airplane I knew that I have to do whatever it takes to fly the BIG BOY(747). I am willing to sell my car, house clothes and gold to fly the 747. And one more thing, I have never been in the cockpit. But I will get there before I turn 40 I hope lol. I would love to be a flight engineer on the 747, did my FE written 2 weeks ago but no job offer. It’s a massive aircraft all that power oh my god.
Have fun flying that beast, could you post photos please?
My qualifications include:

• Commercial, Instrument & Multi-Engine Ratings, FE Written
• 1680 Total Time; 620 Multi-Engine 336 Turbine Time, 550 PIC
• Glass cockpit aircraft experience
• Speak 6 langue’s, fluent English, Arabic, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Spanish.
• Certified legal Interpreter

I am sorry no France or Portuguese, But fluent in Spanish. I am embarrassed of my total time, its low but I am a hard worker and ready to relocate ASAP. An FE possession offer will be great. Merry Christmas
