Be aware of the clause in VOR's contract that states you can only ever work for them on any China contracts now or in the future. Maybe they've taken it out or re-worded it now, but apparently it used to be there and many people have balked. The standard is a one year no compete with the same airline. Anything more than that and I wouldn't sign. There are enough other agents in China that you don't want to limit yourself like that.

Well, the contract T&C's are getting much better. . . better than in most of the "capitalist pig" world in fact.
Sounds like you'll be in a nice part of China. I really like the Chinese in Shanghai, and I am told by friends that Chengdu is a great city with very nice people as well. All in all I enjoy working for the Chinese, our guy's are great, and I imagine you'll have a very good time there.
Treat them well and they will reciprocate (rostering, HR etc.). Some nationalities pilots (we're all expats here) are not all that nice to certain people holding mid level ops jobs, and those mid level ops people might just be very well connected. Guy's complain their rosters always suck, but mine are always great. . . go figure.
Enjoy it.
