Due to the train crash the past week the CAAC has put out a mandate that all flying is to be done by the Captain, and that the Captain also do all walk arounds. Yes, due to a train crash.
I don't know, train, plane, I guess they sound similar.
I really enjoyed my time in China, but the reason Great Wall was such a good gig was the SQ connection, which is now gone. To a man, my friends still there are not in the least impressed with the operation under MU.
This really is all too bad. China has a very serious requirement for pilots, the contracts are quite good as far as T&C's, but the mismanagement just makes it a very frustrating place to work. Personally, I loved living in Shanghai and the locals are generally great, but what a bummer about the state of the operations.
As always, just my opinion.

It’s reminiscent of the old story when a lad goes to the doctor because of broken toe. The doctor’s response is amputate the leg!!!!
Anyway overseas contracts in most parts of the world are a necessity to pay the mortgage or put the kids through college, and to keep the household going.
