Has anyone found a painless and fairly expeditious way to get a JAA ATP when you hold a FAA ATP and current type?

The most painful part are the 14 exams, no way around that.

You may qualify for a national license validation (only valid in the country where it is issued), but it is dependent on each country and only valid for up to a year, and according to JAR FCL-1, it most likely will only be issued if the aircraft that you are qualified on is in demand of qualified pilots, like the example of Aer Araan and ATR pilots a few years ago. Last I heard, the G-register only option is no longer an option in the UK.

Thanks, that's something to look into in the near term.

You are correct. The G-registered only option is no longer around.

I did the conversion last year. Good luck with it. You need a lot of time and money.
