Go for the 787 FO position! Plenty of those birds on the way...

Hey guys, I'm a little late to the party. What's the timeframe from call to interview to class date? I've also noticed they closed their window on the 31st? Any rumors on when it will re-open? Are they known to take Mad Dog drivers?

Thanks in advance.

From what I've been told, hiring will continue all year. Nothing is fixed in the Interview timeline as things have been a bit jumbled. Essentially there are now 5 fleets, 320, 330/340, 380, 777, and 787. Hiring has been to both Bus and Boeing, but the bidding system was thrown out the window for most of last year as a multitude of fleet changes were made in order to balance out experience across the different types. Lots of pilots recently have been non typed, but preference is always given to those with experience. As far as what fleet to expect, nothing is for certain until you are sitting in class after the first week of indoc. The only certainty is no direct entry to the 380.

Thanks, my timeframe for availability is 6-8 months from now. Last thing I want to do is apply now and have to say no. It would probably be better to wait then, assuming I get a call in the first place.

I appreciate your response.

HVYMETALDRVR 01-18-2015 05:43 AM

One more question, since I don't know much about regs there. For the long haul stuff what are you guys getting for rest on the road? Anything over 24 hours? On the short haul A320 stuff can they still reduce rest you down to 8 like the pre Part 117 regs here? Thx

Waiting for A320 invitation (with experience)

Hi guys, any of you is also waiting for the recruitment? A friend of me and myself are waiting now for more than one year for invitation with about 2500h total time and 2300 on the A320.
Anybody in the same situation?
When can we expect interview dates?
With Qatar things become faster now as I heard?
Many thanks for any guess.....

777 non type F/o

Hello guys , I am interested in the above position .

tt3300

1700 737 efis

I understand that recruitment is currently swamped and its taking a long time for guys to get called. However I have been told that going to a road show helps speed up the process of getting invited to abudhabi. Anyone know any upcoming roadshow anywhere in the world?

MoHawk 05-17-2015 02:24 PM

Is there any recruitment at this time?

jeehaa 05-23-2015 10:00 AM

At the moment close to none. Rumor is only internal hiring until the end of the year (i.e. from AirBerlin/AirSerbia/Alitalia etc)

Max Sterling 06-17-2015 07:02 PM

Heard that they have stop recruitment for this year.

Anybody has info if they still continuing with assessment this year but the intake will be for next year for the successful candidates?

Thanks...

Skymaster738 06-20-2015 10:09 PM

I heard there is a bit of a holding pool right now and people who came in for assessments and accepted as far as six months ago have not been given start dates yet. If anyone knows anything different please share.

Why would they continue doing assessments if they don't need people to join at the moment?

Denti 06-21-2015 02:20 AM

They might need to hire again soon. Dunno about the alitalia and air serbia guys, but the air berlin guys have a three year contract after which they can return to air berlin with no loss of seniority. Apparently quite a lot of them consider doing that which is cause of some concern for etihad apparently. The first contracts are up soon.

Max Sterling 06-21-2015 05:39 AM

How is the working prospect and condition at EY actually? Is it better than the other ME carriers? Lots of info regarding EK and QR from here as well as PPRUNE but nothing much talking about EY.... Any EY pilots out here who can share their first hand experience?
Really much appreciated.... thanks

Denti - I thought Germans were big fans of the heat! :p:D

It would be interesting to hear first-hand from the returning Air Berlin pilots their impressions of the pros/cons of EY. And to what extent the issues were related to environment (i.e., Abu Dhabi living) or flying/schedule (i.e., flight fatigue like what you hear about at EK).

Would love to strap-on one of those pretty 787-9s....

EYBusdriver 06-24-2015 12:15 PM

A quote from the local media.

Etihad Airways
Etihad Airways is also looking for captains for its A320s, A330/340s, B777s, captain non-rated B777s and captain B787s. Whereas first officers are needed for A320s, A330/A340s, A380s, B777s, non-rated B777s and B787s.

Etihad offers its captains a starting salary of Dh35,200 per month and an annual salary increment of two per cent, becoming three per cent after completing 5 years. Housing allowance up to Dh170,000 per year and education allowance of Dh36,000 for kids in primary schools and Dh50,400 for children in secondary schools, for up to four children is provided.

Other standard benefits include flight duty allowance, meal allowance during layovers and income protection scheme among other things.

First officers, on the other hand, get a starting salary of Dh26,000 per month and an annual salary increment of 2 per cent. Housing allowance up to Dh160,000 per year and education allowance of Dh36,000 for primary and Dh50,400 for secondary up to 4 children is provided. Other standard benefits are also included.

Max Sterling 06-24-2015 06:07 PM

does this mean they're still continuing with hiring this year?

Skymaster738 06-24-2015 09:04 PM

Thank You BusDriver,

Yes I've read that article online. However, I heard there are a lot of successful candidates in the holding pool with no idea of a rough start date. Do you have any info if I apply today for the NTR 777 F/O position, how long will it take to get an offer once I pass everything?

Thanks

EYBusdriver 06-25-2015 07:02 AM

I can ask around, I'm on 787 now so am not working very hard as deliveries are backed up so we have a surplus of pilots on that fleet, I've heard the 77 is very short but have no details on hiring.

ChuckMD11 06-25-2015 07:16 AM

Good day,
FYI I passed the assessment in April and shortly thereafter received an email from recruitment that I was put in the holding pool for the maximum period of 1 year! If not employed by EY by then my assessment will expire!!!
Several colleagues whom passed the assessment way before me also received this email.Heard that at the moment EY is very short on TRI/TRE and the candidates who are qualified as such will have priority!
Time will tell...
Good luck to you all!

This has become like QR too... those successful candidates in holding pool there if didn't start joining after a year from interview date will have to go through all the reapplying process again....

thanks chuck for sharing info. hopefully good news will come to you soon...

Skymaster738 06-25-2015 12:40 PM

Thanks BusDriver,

So do you think the Boeing rated F/O applicants will get the 777 since the 787 has a surplus at the moment? and when will they start calling people from the pool?
I have a couple of friends in the holding pool as well with no idea about a start date.

Any info will be really helpful.

Thanks

flycaptain 07-02-2015 07:48 AM

Hi,

Quick question for all EY candidates, Filled out the online app, did not receive a email confirmation . Is that standard?

Thanks

ChuckMD what date did you do your assessment?

Max Sterling 08-11-2015 06:09 AM

@flycaptain,
i had the same thing like you. submitted my application last 2 days, status shown "submitted", however, there is no email regarding application received confirmation.

Anyone else having the same issue? Any ideas why? Looking at the website, it stated closing date will be on 30th dec 2015...

Skymaster738 08-11-2015 01:05 PM

@Max Sterling

From what I am hearing now is that they have slowed down recruitment a lot this year. Many people in a holding pool now. Rumor has it they pick it up again at the end of the year or early next year.

I think the delays are greatly due to the unfinished new terminal but the aircrafts are still coming in. We'll see.

Max Sterling 08-11-2015 04:44 PM

@Skymaster738

Thanks mate... Holding pool is it for those who are waiting for date of joining or those shortlisted waiting for interview?

Skymaster738 08-11-2015 10:38 PM

Holding pool is for those waiting for a date of joining. If what I am hearing is correct, they have stopped interviewing or has slowed it down significantly for the time being, but they need people and they need a lot. It's just a planning issue at this point.

Have you tried applying with any other in the region? EK, SV or QR?

Denti 08-11-2015 11:28 PM

Interviews are still ongoing, at least for those joining from Etihad airline partners. But that pool of pilots is drying up quickly right now with financially better offers in china available.

Max Sterling 08-12-2015 09:47 PM

@Skymaster738,

I have applied recently to the others around the gulf. Still waiting for reply.

Skymaster738 08-13-2015 02:44 AM

@Denti

Oh ok I didn't know that about the pool. Any idea when they're gonna pick up the hiring again from people in the pool?

Max Sterling 08-25-2015 07:33 PM

They have upgraded their career website. Unfortunately under 'pilot and sfi', only UAE nationals cadet pilot position are being offered. Plus with the new webpage, I cant login to see my submitted application anymore. What happened to our apps prior to website upgrading? Does it all gone? Anybody can lighten up please?

noticed the same last weekend. Their system has been upgraded and that means for all that applied earlier that the information has been erased.

Up to this morning, there were only 2 Cadet entries available, but now it also shows the NTR FO 777 again.

Can someone provide some updated info on advancement within the company? Is it based on seniority, merit, something else? I'm coming from 7000+ Total hours with about 2000 on the 320, in a company/situation that I have grown tired of. In my minds eye, my expectation would be some wide body flying after a year and then maybe upgrade before 5 years. Please feel free to rain on my parade or correct my expectations. I'm currently an expat and I'm seriously considering some opportunities at home but I would seriously consider the right expat job and I always had a good impression of EY but I don't have any contacts over there.

RockyMntAV8R 09-01-2015 01:08 PM

Does anyone have any information as to future A-320 DEC postings. EY had listed A320 DEC positions until the website update happened. Now there is nothing. If anyone has any information it would be appreciated.
Rocky

Narrow body upgrade minimums are 5500tt with time on type/company time etc. Fleet transfers will happen once certain time is reached in the company and there are openings on the wide body. The time for this is based on many things, deliveries, upgrades, destination changes, etc.

Upgrades are a combination of seniority and merit. There is a three day assessment process that includes a technical interview, a non technical interview, a simulator evaluation, and a final interview. The process is tough but fair, and requires a good deal of preparation and solid knowledge of the aircraft, the manuals, company procedures, and basic airmanship.

Hi am new to the forum. I've applied a few days back for the non-rated B777 FO just after they upgraded their Career website. A few questions I'd like to ask;

- i'm actually short of 50 hrs to meet the min 2500-hr requirements, but i could still send in my app. Would that be ok for the recruiters?
- how long does it take for me to get called for the selection?
- been doing some studying on the interview and would like to know if the recruitment process hasnt changed ie sim eval, general knowledge test, HOGAN test, group exercise as well as personal interview?
-is the company accomodation still the same as mentioned in the first page of this thread?
- how long does the training usually last?

Thanks in advance people ;)

flycaptain 09-08-2015 09:05 AM

Hi everyone,

Anyone know how long before getting some sort of respond from recruitment ? They are advertising for open positions within the company but all I see is my app being under "progress" .
Applied for type rated B777 DEC in May! Also updated app in the new system.

Any feedback will be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Why not wait and apply when you hit the minimum????? Just 50 more hours...

RockyMntAV8R 10-13-2015 07:52 AM

Looks like EY just opened A-320 Capt recruitment back up. Is there anyone in the know that could give me some information on the end of service benefit? Also any information on the company housing situation would be appreciated.
Thanks

flycaptain 10-13-2015 07:57 AM

Hi

The 777 DEC offer as been posted on the website for while but no contact or any light on interviews. I'm not sure about the 320 job offer. If anyone has been called for DEC interview please PM.

Thanks in advance.
