A320 Captain Requirements

Hi everyone, I am a little comfused about the requirements they need for A320 Captain. In their site they say under qualifications
"A minimum of 2500 hours on multi crew, glass cockpit (1) jet aircraft."
When I completed my application there was a question saying if you have 2500 PIC hours on multi crew glass cockpit jet aircraft, which was not the case at what their site said.
My total A320 PIC is 1800.
Does anyone know if they actually need 2500 PIC on glass cockpit jets or just the 1500 PIC hours on the airbus?
Thanks !

Anybody knows if EY going to commence recruitment again? Anybody got invitation already for interview next year? January 2016 perhaps?

Cannot give you a correct answer. But this really bothers me about many airline job sites. They often give inaccurate or conflicting information from one page to another. We are expected to be 100% accurate on everything, sometimes down to the minute in a logbook summary coving thousands of hours, but they often cannot take care of even the most basic proof reading or cross checking on their own employment portal.

Rant over...

Beware

If you are planning to join EY just make sure you do your due diligence regarding housing and school allowances. Under the current conditions it doesn't make financial sense to work there. EY housing and school allowances are completely divorced from reality.

Happy new year 2016. This thread has been quite for awhile. Anyone with EY hiring news for this year? Are they going to call non partner airlines candidates for interview this year? Thanks a bunch...

Hello everyone,

Does anyone know when they will open DEC hiring again?

The job isn't even available for application on the website right now. I can't find it. Am I missing something? Not looking in the right place?

Thanks,

SEQU

I am looking for some information about how many pilots with foreign licences are flying for Etihad Airlines or Abu Dhabi based air charter services - basically need to see if I can do FAA / TCC / CASA / CAA NZ medicals for pilots in Abu Dhabi.
Can anyone give me an approx idea ? Or where I can get this information ?

Regards

Aircrew, EY is advertising for ICAO licence, whatever ICAO licence you have, do its medical and this is what you'll be applying with.
Then once recruited your licence will be converted to ICAO UAE licence.
All those licences you mentioned are ICAO, so apply with one of them.

three quarter of all pilots in those arab Gulf airlines have applied with an ICAO licence, now how many!?... don't think anyone could give you a figure ... (?)

hope this help and good luck

Other questions

Hi

I have some other questions about the daily operation.

How is the bidding system?

Lido or Jeppesen?

Is the B787 and B777 same fleet?

If you apply as B777 TR FO, is there any chance to be assigned 787 FO?

Education allowance: How does it really work? Do they pay 100%? Can you register your kids in a Dubai school?

How long is the training for a type rated pilot?

Thank you so much in advance!

Well, good luck on getting answers. Apparently they are downsizing a lot, they try to send back all the secondments they got from their former partner airlines and cutting the fleet to (nearly) half size. There are talks of dismantling it alltogether or merging it with Emirates as Etihad on its own clearly doesn't work.

Current bidding system is very ineffective, mainly due to very few hard lifestyle company rules for it to "push back" against. Seniority plays no part.

Also company is free to change their minds at any time on what aircraft will service which route, even post publication. The result are constant roster changes that disrupt schedules and cause pilots to lose awarded flying. Also you are not compensated for lost flying hour pay, so if an 18 hour trip becomes a 3 hour turn, or a sector becomes a deadhead, you are not pay protected.

777 and 787 pilots are in the process of being mixed fleet, so no matter which fleet you are hired, eventually you will be cross trained to the other, currently being done by volunteer or reverse-seniority.

Education allowance is a fixed amount, you have to top up anything above that.

There is no Furlough, a few pilots from partner airlines that were on 2-3 year contracts were not renewed, mainly for discipline/performance reasons, but the majority were offered full time contracts.

Word is that hiring has stopped for the year, and fleet reductions are possible. However a lot of 787s and 321s are still to come, so it likely would not result in an immediate need to reduce pilots, rather a gradual reduction that natural attrition would take care of.

There is a quite a bit of belt tightening going on at the moment, and the final "plan" of action has yet to be decided by the board. However it seems that the days of big bonuses and fast upgrades through rapid expansion are on hold for the time being.

If you're in the door, it's not a bad place to be. It can be a big step up career wise depending where you are coming from, but like any airline things are at a different cycle than say 5 years ago or 10 years ago.
