they just fired a VivaAerobus captain for letting some chick physically sit in left seat during cruise flight.
before we point a finger south of the border for "poor judgement" by this crew, remember we (USA) have had a crew completely fall asleep, a crew fly past destination, landed at wrong airports, etc etc. (and so has every other country).
with that said, I would have no problem flying the latin carriers, major brands. Aeromexico, Avianca, TACA, COPA, Interjet and Volaris. Most of those dudes "earned their way" to the cockpit via flying turboprop corporate or RJ's or their country's military.
Mexico is NOT Air Orient with 300 hour wonder kid in right seat.

Wait a minute, don't we let flight attendants sit up front in the US when one of the crew is indisposed? How do we know she isn't a flight attendant? I don't know if she is in uniform or not, but she could be deadheading, or have spilled something on her uniform. She is wearing a safety vest, so this could be a repo flight with company staff on board.
