Default Keeping our contract

Work Rules!

I have been talking to some of our Flexjet pilots about their reasons for wanting to keep our Union and contract in place. I got this example from a 14 year Legacy captain. If you report at 0535 for a 0705 airline on day one, you are paid 30 minutes at your hourly overtime rate. Divide your daily rate by 12 and multiply by 1.5. Since he is a 14 year Legacy 450 captain, his rate is $800.00/day. That means $66.66x1.5 so $99.99 for that 30 minutes. Pre-contract, we Flexjet pilots didn’t get that. When you work between 12-14 hours, you also get the OT rate. We had that with Bombardier, but Options didn’t get anything and the management team who determines our compensation is not Bombardier. Without a contract, that goes away. 14-16 hours? You get triple the hourly as OT. $66.66x3 is $199.98 per hour. Options got time and a half. Without the contract, you get nothing from 12-14 and only 1.5 from14-16 hours. As a bonus, you can stop your day at 14 hours if you assess yourself unfit to continue without being called into the office. It's protected by the contract. That was never the case under the management at Options and that is the management we have today. Another example of contractual benefit is your go home day. Say you report at 0620 in IAD. Scheduling has to get you home before 2220 eastern time or not only do you get the hourly overtime mentioned above, but you get an overtime day. They must get you home within 16 hours, or pay you the extra day along with 1.5 for hours 12-14 and 3x for hours 14-16. We never had that at Flexjet and pre-contract, the Options guys didn’t get the OT day unless they arrived home after 0300 the next day. That’s right, 3AM the next day. And the decert bunch would have you believe this contract is “substandard”.

The contractually guaranteed work rules that govern your daily flying life are the number one reason to vote for the IBT in this election.
