Also the only folks who work 40 hour weeks are fast food, clerks, secretaries, admins, shippers, etc. White collar people comparable to professional pilots are typically putting in significantly more hours, plus on the leash at all times. BTDT, I sure never had 8 hours/day to myself on a workday.

Bingo! A lot of folks in the tech world are spending 1-3 hrs per night, 3-4 nights per week on con calls to Asia, where there are several folks on a speaker phone practicing their English on you. Where's the time for family in that? Always home? Not all the time....a lot of these folks spend 6-8 weeks per year traveling, coach seats, to Asia. Others' MMV. The money may be good, but at some point...….QOL starts to matter.

Absolutely. I just REALLY don't agree with people on a 7/7 schedule saying they work half a year. Even if an office yob is 12 hours per day, by the time you add the weekend and 2 weeks off it is still less than half a year because 24 hr per day..... Semantics I guess, because if you say I am OFF half the year it sounds more acceptable to me. I will go home now.

Can you imagine NetJets letting you take an aircraft to Normandy France with your family on it for $316? Because that’s what my travel-benefits just let me do.

Dude... it’s fine to be a cheerleader for NJ, but seriously give it a rest.

And that's where I as a former NJAer, has a real problem. People are right, I have no skin in the game and I am not a former employee, but I was employed there, and I know when somebody is flat out lying to make it look cool. FLYLOW22 did it better than anyone, it seems like GUARD has taken over.

The thing is nobody pays too much attention to these boards anyway , but I agree , Guard , is laying it on a mite thick , it’s a decent job , but there is massive room for improvement, ah well , he might just be having fun just to solicit a reaction. Cheers

Can you imagine Guard if he got the gift packages we used to get years ago? I still laugh when I see a guy wearing a NJA shirt or hat, but back then we got watches, modes, coolers and jackets....used to be a cool job, now it’s a job.

I found the commuting at NJA to be intolerable and one of several reasons that I left. It is for sure better than 121 commuting but it's much, much, much worse than 121 living in base. I absolutely couldn't stand a three leg WN hop to get to a bird and then hurried to go fly a leg or two. And the return trips were even worse. If NJA could save $5 on a two leg hop with a four hour sit instead of a direct flight then they'd do it in a heartbeat. I couldn't have cared less about the miles. Who wants to fly on a day off anyways?

I know several have the opposite attitude but if you're looking for facts the NJA commute isn't the rainbows and daisies some are advocating.

Depends on where you live. I'm in CLT and very rarely had anything other than a 1 leg airline to my jet. Was "gold" on AA. Now coming home was a bit different, they will go cheap. I can non-rev on AA and used that a few times to get home when booked on an airline other than DL or AA. And you can always "dummy" the ticket and make your own arrangements that'll be reimbursed up to what they paid for the original schedule. And because I'm in CLT I can count on my fingers how many times I rode SWA in 14 years.

Edit: forgot to mention the miles. They're very nice to have. I blew all my Delta miles on a trip for my wife and I to Hawaii. Went 1st class both ways. Spent a week at a nice Hilton property, all on hotel points. Would have cost us many thousands of $$$. All I really paid for was the rental car and the tourist stuff we did like the helicopter tour over the lava flows which was awesome.

The DFW/DAL base was considerably different. And only twice in several years did I pick up a bird at Signature DAL or Corporate DFW.
