Leave the majors to Netjets?

If anyone that is currently at Netjets who previously flew for a major, could you please PM me? I need to pick some brains.

I'm a 12+ year United Captain, and am considering making a move.

Thanks

WOW that's a move. I know there are a bunch of guys here at Netjets who passed on the recall from a major, but haven't heard of an active Captain do that yet, unless he/she is close to retirement.

Good luck with your decision

Yes, it would be.

But, I'm relatively young and live in CMH.

Boy, I sure would enjoy my 20min "commute" more than I enjoy the present one. That is for certain.

Pretty sure you need around 10 posts to send/receive PMs.

Are you considering NetJets International??? I believe they want you to have a G-IV or G-V type rating, but with your experience they'll probably let that slide.

Well, we have hundreds of guys who retired from the airlines and several others who got furlough after 9/11, got the recall, but never went back. Hopefully someone steps up to answer your questions.

cheers

Hi!

I think it'd be crazy to leave a Capt UAL slot for NetJets, especially since you just got five more years to fly at UAL, which was one of the main reasons to go to NJA from an airline.

Yeah, just what I want to do. Work until I'm 65, then die at 66.

No thanks.

As much as I'd like to work for Netjets, I don't think I'm going to try. If I was just starting out at United, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But, being there 12yrs, I'm probably stuck.

The numbers aren't that far off base pay wise, but throw in United's 16% B fund and it just doesn't make sense to leave. Until we go out of business of course. :(

What ATP said......

We have a 19 year A-320 Captain who left NWA at 50 to come work for NJI and a 26 year B-747 Captain who also left NWA at 52 to come work for us. Last time I talked to each of them, neither regretted the decision. We also have more than a dozen major airline furlough guys that blew off recall. Only one that I know of returned to his legacy (United) and he was under 35 and lived in a base city.

You won't know if you made the right decision until the day you retire.

Right now, if I was a F/O at a major (SW, FDX, UPS excluded) with less than 4 years seniority, Netjets would look like an attractive proposition to me. No commuting, free benefits, probably better or at least same pay. However, If I had more than 5 years invested in a major, C/A or F/O, I probably wouldn't go anywhere. To me 5+ years of seniority matter.

we all have different priorities, and circunstances.
