You may have more accurately stated it.
I have spoken to one that knows. Again, I got really lucky. There won't be any real action out west until the East is better crewed, and the 300's ship.

Are yall looking for Dallas guys right now or no? Its closer to the East coast...

No, Not T-bone.

Yes, we'll hire Dallas.

Where are you located?

HalinTexas 04-21-2008 06:35 PM

I live in the DFW area. Put my stuff in a couple of weeks ago right after ATA shut down.

Looking to leave the airlines behind!

Talked to my buddy yesterday and he can finally recommend people. He is trying to get in touch with Randy this week. He said that they wanted him to get the full picture of everything involved with his job before recommending people. He still loves it! I believe that it would be my final stop on my career path, as well as his.

We agreed that they need some more pilots in Dallas because it is so easy to airline anywhere from there. (wishful thinking) Many direct flights to the East coast. Hopefully with a recommendation in, I might be able to get an interview (fingers crossed). :D

Your guess is as good as mine!?!

From your experience pilotbum, is it hard to get a hold of Randy. SD is having trouble getting Randy to call him back. I'm sure he is a busy man, but is there any other way to get a reference in? Just try and email him maybe?

Nope, have not had that problem. He is really responsive to the pilot group but he's been out of town lately. Have SD email him.

Do you know how many more pilots XOJET is going to hire this year? I know it will pick up when the C300 start flying in. Don't know how much longer my job is going to be around. The furloughs have already begun and it is REALLY slow right now. The on demand freight industry is not the place to be right now! If it ever was...

I don't know off the top of my head. Randy is the one with those answers.

With the number of applications that we have on file knowing someone is the best way to get your resume reviewed. However, that is not to say that if yo don't know anyone you don't have a chance, it just makes things a little more difficult.

Other than knowing someone, frequent resume updates is the next best thing you can do. The application system logs each update and the recruiter gives a lot of consideration to that sort of activity. A dormant file is also a sign of a lack of interest (meaning you may have found another job) and is more likely to be pased over than one with recent activity.

Anyone know how much, if any, international flying XOJET does?

Check flightaware.com and look into their past history of flights based on their tail numbers...750PT, 752PT, etc. They do occasional int'l flights, but not too far from the US mainland. I think with their Abu Dhabi expansion, they will deploy more international stuff with a larger aircraft and/or the CL300. Maybe someone who works there can chime in.

The international flying is picking up... probably a couple of trips a month. But there will be a lot of international flying once the Middle East operation starts up.

Ditto. And I've been to the "sandbox."

That's hard to say and to be honest, I don't think anyone really knows.

holdingoverndb 07-01-2008 07:06 PM

Eeh..?So how do you update, after you are registered as on file...?

Yes. Files with the most recent activity and more frequency of activity get more attention.

Stud7094 07-07-2008 01:12 PM

i update every 2 weeks..hope it works...problem is i have no internal recs

Just curious, but what info are you updating every 2 weeks? Flight times or something else? Thanks.

Stud7094 07-08-2008 03:49 PM

flight times...just a habit i started while keeping the logbook up to date...

LIOG41 07-08-2008 06:24 PM

Things are pretty quiet over at XOJET...can an "internal" give us a quick update?

pilotbum 07-08-2008 10:11 PM

The flight time ranges are generally too broad to update regularly and actually have changes. But you are encuraged to upload a ne resume with current flight times. The reason being the application system records activity on your profile and searches from the database include frequency of activity among other things. Profiles with less activity or moreover, no recent activity are moved down as they could be perceived as a loss of interest or candidates that have found other work. Most of these systems work roughly the same that way.

Staffing for recent deliveries is complete. The next class is scheduled for September and then October. Nest year is when the real hiring will commence as we are taking delivery of 20 300's and... I forget how many X's. But it will result in ~150 new positions last I heard.

Thanks for the update.

Are you saying that the Sept/Oct classes have been hired already and just awaiting that timeframe? Or do these classes have yet to be filled/hired?

Stud7094 07-09-2008 09:30 AM

Thanks man...hope to see you at xojet someday...
