Default Carrying Prist

Hey,

Anyone know if it is legal & safe to carry prist cans onboard a part 91 flight to the islands? Seems like the don't have in Jamaica and I was wondering if anyone knows where to point me. The aircraft is privately owned and operated. If allowed, is in the cabin or cargo a better place? The aircraft in question is a Citation I (500) Jet. Thanks for the heads up.

Bocaflyer, Prist is concered Haz-Mat. It's one of those strange things, we need it but cant carry any onboard.
Have you thought about Fedex'ing some down. I dont know if you can though.
Cheers!

If I am not mistaken there is a chart in the AFM or OPS manual that shows dilution rates. As long as you do not land in the islands with empty tanks you should have enough residual to allow you to fly back stateside where you can get more Prist. Take as much fuel as you can and buy as little as needed down there.

What airport are you going to?

We were handled by UV Air, and the FBO had 3 cans of prist for us at Montego Bay.

The danger of prist in a can is that some cans don't spray at the scheduled rate, so you may have to slow down the rate of fuel delivery.

Did you pre-order that Prist in advance out of MBJ? I thought they didn't have at all on the island. I know KIN doesn't have for sure.

We made our arrangements through UV Air, and ordered Prist through them. We then called the FBO to confirm they had it. Our handler was the FBO at Montego Bay--I can't remember the lady's name, but she was exceptional.

I would call IAM Jet Center and inquire about Prist, perhaps they could work something for you. The fueler came from the airline ramp, but the Prist was on the desk at the FBO.
They were well aware of it, and I gave the fuel truck driver a hand with it.
