Net Jets Hiring plans/staffing
For you NJA guys out there just curious there hiring plans for the remainder of this year, and 2009. Also, are you pretty well staffed, or is most current hiring attrition based?
Thanks!

Here is my take on it from limited word/rumors. From what I understand roughly 400/yr planned. Target goal is somewhere around 5000 pilots. We have approx 2800-2850 on the seniority list right now. Our biggest hurdle to hiring is the ability of Flight Safety to handle the volume. Right now interviewing is going to pause until approx. Sept (to get the goat through the python) I actually heard that from a buddy who interviewed last week. We do not have a lot of attrition right now so hiring is on pure expansion. Probably looking at upwards of 5 years for upgrade unless there is a surge in retirement-nobody wants to leave a job that is giving them 4 weeks vacation(on the 7n7 that means 4 months of 21 days off) plus PTO.
The plan in Columbus is for a enormous training facility in conjunction with Flight Safety, 2-3 years for completion. So a little while before training can be completed en masse.
But, the water is warm and I recommend diving in.

Are we talking phone interviews here, or CMH interviews? I know several people have mentioned that their phone interviews have been rescheduled for September, but are they also pushing back interview dates in CMH?

If you interview in Aug in CMH, you are interviewing for a start date in 2008.
If you interview in Sept, you are interviewing for a start date in 2009.
As predicted by some, the new 18 day schedule has led to efficiencies and the hiring numbers are decreasing some (no actual value given in the brief I heard today).
Phone interviews can now eliminate you from a CMH interview. This was not the case when this part of the interview first began. An invite to CMH after the phone interview can still take time.
Interviews are being done now one week out of the month. 200+ applications are coming in each week.
There is no quota in hiring during a given day/interview group. All could be hired or none could be hired. All three parts of the interview must be passed.
All of this info is current as of today and may be invalid tomorrow if HR changes things up.
