Hey everyone. I was just curious what the NetJets lifestyle is like. I really don't know a whole lot about it, so if anyone could provide some details, I would really appreciate it (ie. what is a typical month like?). Pros and cons would be great. Thanks in advance....

You airline guys need to get out of the habit of everything being based on a "month." the fractional experience barely dictates what a typical DAY will bring you, never mind a month.

I think Learflyer was saying that there is not a standard day, much less a standard month, when it comes to fractional flying.

Chill out, dude. I am not even an airline guy. I am an active duty military guy and just had a question. I thought that was what this whole site was about. Anyway, anyone else have any input as to what the "fractional" lifestyle is all about. I am asking about lifestyle, not each daily hop.

Well, if you can stand it, most have a 7on, 7off sked. you know you're sked up to a year in advance. At my former frac, we had an 8/7 sked. The 8 days on was brutal, but the 7 off was nice. After about day three or so, you will eventually have to look at the hotel room phone to see which city you are in. you will walk into walls, because you thought you were in the hotel room from yesterday! You'll depart from airports like Cornelius, GA and land in Boston's Logan. You'll have a trip out of JFK going to Ocean Reef Club (a private airfield in MIA area). You'll spend some tours never leaving the hotel room (mx), or other tours never leaving the state of Texas. you'll have some tours where you're crossing the country everyday!

You'll fly celebrities you have never thought you would meet. You'll get yelled at by Martha Stewart one day, and invited to the Tonight Show taping (true story, but not typical) by Emeril the next day. You'll see places on this earth where you will not believe rich folks can actually live there. Sometimes the Beechjet you are flying is loaded up with Junior's stuff to take him away to college. This is also a true story. I spent one day of a rotation going back and forth from Athens, GA, to Peachtree airport in Atlanta moving Thurston's desks, computers, furniture, and books to his school. Expensive moving company!

You'll be appreciated by Michael J. Fox, and told your decision to no go is a wrong one by Dan Quail! you'll drop your keys on the ramp in KBGR, only to find out you have to scale the fence to get them back (locked out 2 am). You'll drop off some rich lady in Americus, Ga and after you takeoff again, you'll hear her calling you on the unicom to "please come back, as I forgot my antique sword in the luggage compartment."

I'll think of others as time passes. I'm only one (former) frac pilot. I hope a bunch of others on here can share a few stories for you!

As others have said, there really is no typical day. Some tours you'll work 14 hrs each day and have 10 hrs of rest. Others, you'll spend 4 days in a row in the hotel.

Get into the mindset that they own you from midnight on day 1 to midnight of your last day. After you finish for the day, you'll get briefed for your next days assignment to go from point A to point B only to have your schedule change while you're in rest. When you check your schedule the following day after your rest period, it looks nothing like it did when you went to bed. It isn't uncommon for it to change between flights. You'll land expecting to ferry to HPN, only to find out you're now going somewhere else. If you're the type that needs to know what he's doing well in advance, fractional life isn't for you. And that's OK. Everyone doesn't have to like the same thing.

I don't know what you're background is, but I came from the 121 world and will never go back after being here. You'll work hard, but you're treated very well overall. You'll visit some very interesting places and meet many interesting people.

In a nutshell, lifestyle and QOL are very good here, IMHO.

I know it may be tedious, but try using the search function. It's been covered many a time. And don't forget, not everything they do is 7 on 7 off.

Lear, that honestly sounds exciting...and you're flying to some places that the airlines can't and meeting all different kinds of people. I'm still weighing my options but I've got a few years to decide what to do. Fractional is looking better and better everyday!
