The smart pilots knew this was coming and planned ahead. MOST businesses worldwide have down-sized. And.....there are other careers.

Exactly, and I wonder if Mr Sokol, not having managed a flight operation before, fully understands how much chaos could ensue by cutting too many pilots at a high end service operation like Net Jets.

How is NetJets Europe doing? Are they going to furlough pilots there as well?

quote: "1 out 5 Americans is unemployed, under-employed, or stuck in a PT job." Great point.

The BLS "U-6" number that most people (and the 24 hour news channels) do not watch...unemployment for November 2009 is at 17.2%.

Remember that he has personally been a NetJets Owner for 10 years and is intimately familiar with the product from a consumer standpoint. That fact alone gives me some cause to feel the integrity and quality of the brand will be preserved...... only time will tell I guess.

Default First Class Organization

I hope he remembers, as he makes these changes to NetJets, that there is a reason why NetJets has been considered as highly as they have. All successful businesses have to run on a budget, but an organization like NetJets can't run on a shoestring budget and be expected to provide world class service second to none.

Just because you are a passenger or a consumer of a product, doesn't mean you know the business. A lot of behind the scenes work happens just so an aircraft shows up on the ramp. If Netjets is not careful they could end up being like Flightoptions.

Is that your ego or reality talking? Why can't NetJets be run on a lean and efficient budget?

The Waldorf Astoria has great Bellmen. Best in the industry. Do you think they make 6 figures?

A Bentley is a great car. Best in the industry. Do you think the guy putting the tires on in the plant makes 6 figures?

NetJets is a great fractional. Best in the industry. Do you think the guy in the right seat should be making 5 figures in crew meals? (when he could be eating subway like the rest of us on 2 hour plus turns)

...oh yeah, the CBA. My bad.

Define "lean and efficient"? There's a BIG difference between taking a chopping knife to the butcher block, or just trimming the fat. Besides, if you want to keep your customers happy, better make sure the ones serving them are.

And yes the Waldorf Astoria bellmen probably do make 6 figures, including tips.
