Avantair 1st Quarter Earnings Are In
Operating loss of ($3.6) million and an EBITDA loss of ($2.3) million, compared with an operating profit of $0.2 million and EBITDA profit of $1.7 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2011.
They like using "Operating Income" as their standard of profitability because it allows them to omit certain expenses in the report and still show a profit even though they are really losing money. Looks like even that standard is now showing a several million dollar LOSS in the 1st quarter of this fiscal year. I wonder how the Kool-Aid drinkers will try to spin it. Maybe the new 8-6 schedule will help the company out....LOL
Didn't NetJets just post a profit?

How much longer can they survive losing money?
No real profit after all these years!
The piaggio may be cheaper than a jet to operate, but operationally maintenance seems to be its limiting factor.
Since the way they handeled, or MISHANDELED the 8 and 6. I don't think the pilot group is willing to continue operating broken aircraft for the good of the company any more!
And thats going to have a big effect on the future profitability. Or lack of.
I guess we'll see.

Why is it that fellow pilot seem to pull for seeing another company fall?
If you don't like the company or their plan, then don't apply but to sit and "cheer" for what may be yet another group of pilot on the streets seems very childish and ill willed toward your fellow brothers.
(I am not an employee of the company, I only wish I had the time to even be looked at by them)

Be careful who's a.ss you toot the horn up. Last time I checked NJA still had 470+ on furlough (myself included) I would rather be at Avantair losing money than at NJA furloughed for x amount of years.
Before you retort...No I do not think Avantair is a better company or a better place to be for the next 20 years.

Great advice, unfortunately there are MANY at NJA who either have no experience with anything but NJA, or just think they're "the best of the best".
Trust me, some active pilots have said some of the most ridiculuous things to even their furloughed "brothers".. Just thinking about having to fly with some of them upon return churns my stomach. Because I just know they'll say something stupid.

I was also told to expect "The Event" to occur shortly. It's about to get interesting.
