I found out by reading different fourms on airline background checks that they go back 10 years for a TSA SIDA badge, and also have the 28 disqulifyers. But what do fractional background checks consist of (e.g. netjets, avantair, flight options)? Are there more lenient then the airlines? And also do you need a SIDA badge for fractional pilots?

Same background checks plus fingerprinting. No SIDA badges, which are airport specific. Our company badge allows us to be around the airplane. Some airports (ie: BWI) will escort you to and from the aircraft. Most FBOs let you walk out to your aircraft.

The frac checks are not driven by the TSA, but by the owners. They need to be confident that we are safe for themselves and their families. At NJ the checks were pretty extensive.

Wrong. The checks are driven and executed by the TSA. I had an issue on mine and got a phone call from the TSA. I had to present certain paperwork to them in order to be cleared. It was the same TSA office that I dealt with a couple years earlier when I was hired by a regional. It is the same background check with the same disqualifying factors and it is performed by the TSA.
