Default When will NJ be calling for PBI interviews?

Hey all, I saw an ad on monster.com for NJA. They are advertising for LAX domiciles only right now, it was posted on Oct 5th. Anyone from NJ out there that can get an idea from the folks in recruiting when they will be looking at PBI again?

I don't think the folks in recruiting know until their bosses tell them where to hire into. The fastest way is to tell them you'll accept any domicile and then change to PBI after you are hired. The training tends to take many months and you will be able to bid into PBI before anyone is hired into it once you are on property. They have to post internal bids to include SIC aircraft positions by domicile before they release those domicile positions to new applicants. We are hiring like crazy, but I don't know if anyone can really say when they will specifically be interviewing for PBI. It could turn out that lots of guys tell them they will accept any base and then change to PBI thusly prolonging how long it takes to get an interview for that base. I really don't know if many are doing this right now, but it is something that can be done. Just be prepared to be somewhere else for a while if they don't open any slots there. Good luck whatever you decide. The new domicile system sucks (I'm post contract and stuck with it also), but the job is well worth it.

Thanks for the insight, I will definitely give it some consideration. I didn't realise I could bid out of LAX for argument sake and be in PBI within a reasonable amount of time. Thanks again.

I am not sure how long the amount of time would be to bid out, I just know that those on property can get those FO domicile slots before anyone off the street gets hired into them. I would assume that as long as the hiring keeps going strong (as it should for the next couple of years at least), that it would be within a matter of a few months to swap, but nothing is sure in aviation. They could decide they want PBI to be a smaller domicile (unlikely) and not place many into it for a while. I guess you can live wherever during training and if it drags out like it does for most you will probably get PBI before IOE, but be prepared to either buy tickets to work or sign a short term lease in LA if it takes a while and this is the route you take. It should be the fastest route, but it is still a bit of a gamble as to when you can change. Good luck.

If you do bid for a new base, does the company help with the move or is that out of pocket as well? Do they even relocate for the first base you are hired into?

Seperate question How long is the training and where is it?

All out of pocket for any base for post contract pilots. Those with home basing can get their move to one of the domiciles paid for if they renounce the home basing option.

Depending on the airplane they put you in, you will most likely spend your first month or so in CMH in a nice hotel paid by the company. Basic Indoc is a little under 2 weeks and is in CMH for sure. The sim will be 2 to 3 weeks and quite possibly will be at Flight Safety CMH since they have Excel, Falcon, X, Ultra, and now a Soveriegn sim. Some guys go straight through and some have up to a month off between basic indoc and sim. They will airline you from your domicile to training events, or you can find your own way. The newhires all get suites to stay in. I had half Staybridge suites and half Embassy suites. There is a good chance the training drags out long enough to swap before IOE. I went really fast and started IOE within 2 1/2 months of starting here. I did the sim first and my sim partner didn't start IOE for almost 6 months. I'ver heard of guys getting lost in the training pipeline for over a year (never missed a payday or benefits). I think they are getting some improvements on the speed of training, but I can't believe they will get it down to 2 months before IOE anytime soon.

The company will pay the cost to airline you to your domicile on the last day of your tour and you can pay the difference if it costs more to fly to where you live. They won't do anything like that to start a tour, but a couple of airline tickets a month for a coupld of months before a change if it drags out a while wouldn't be too hideous. I think PBI is a Southwest city and I know LAX is also. Also, if your not married/ with family you could find a room to rent without a lease around the LA area and just bring a car full of stuff until you know you get things changed. This wouldn't be the easiest thing, but it could be done.

On the first day of indoc, does NetJets airline you to CMH from wherever you live, or does the basing system start immediately on that first day?

Okay, then...I'll answer it myself (I found out today). Yes, they do airline you from where you live to indoc. Thereafter, it's from your base.
