A few weeks ago I sent a note to the HR folks asking if there were any new domiciles in the works. They wrote me back and told me: "NO".
This may or may not be the final word, but if I were applying based on NJA "maybe" opening a domicile I liked, it would be a definite long shot.
Every indication I get is that NJA is committed to their five dumbaciles and no amount of reason, or cost will change their policy for new hires. NJA is not commuter friendly, so plan on living within reasonable driving distance. (There are certain advantages of living more than 90 or 150 miles of the dumbicile.)
Many of the pilots who have HBA presently think this will change with a new contract, but I think the company will push for dumbaciles for everyone. Some of the smaller HBA's are costing them a fortune and the compromise position might be a return to the original gateways. The present contract is amendable Nov 21, 2010, but don't expect a new, signed contract until 2012 based on previous performance.

My guess is no changes until a new contract unless age 65 doesn't happen and all the majors start hiring like crazy making it much more difficult to get descent pilots through the door. Even if this happens it will probably take at least another couple of years from now to force a change. My guess for the next contract is homebasing for all, but more restrictive than the one we currently have. I think the pilots will stand strong to beat down anything less than something with considerably more than the former 25 or whatever gateways (unless the company offers something like 100k to start and 150k by year 5, but that aint happening).
