Default Future at F9

Interviewed last week and was offered a position for a May class date. Pretty excited about the future of F9 after the meet and greet as a very promising future was painted, but I understand that is the job of the interview group when they have a group of potential new hires in front of them. I've been through a 2+ year contract negotiation at a previous 121 employer so I understand many of the tactics employed. My question is whether the 134 aircraft will actually be a reality over the next ten years or is it more a hiring tool and contract negotiation tool at this point? Several times during the day it was being advertised that upgrade times would be 2-3 years. TIA

Companies don't buy 134 aircraft to use as recruiting tools.

Very true. However a company like Ingido can easily decide to A) sell the lease for a profit, B) decide to redesignate Airline X’s airplanes as Airline Y’s airplanes, or C) do something nobody sees coming.

It’s a gamble coming here banking on new airplanes and a new contract. But I and many others took the same gamble. I’ll know in a couple decades if it was a winning strategy based on whether I’m catching red snapper from my boat or renewing my CFI to make ends meet.

To the OP,

Are you weighing another offer? Are you going to change your mind on showing up for class based on what you read here? If the answer to those questions is “no” then it sounds like your mind is made up. So the only advice I think matters is to live within your means TODAY and don’t bank on anything other than min guarantee at current book for eternity and you PROBABLY be in good shape sooner or later.

Oh and congrats on the offer!

I agree. Planes aren't real until they show up on the ramp and contracts aren't in effect until they are signed. If your uncomfortable with the present F9 you should be uncomfortable with coming here
.

Recruiters are like listening to an Amway presentation... it all sounds good till you walk to your car and reality sinks in.

Congrats on the job offer.

At the moment, things at frontier are kind of ugly due to the nature of contract negotiations. Typical stuff for any airline, but we have a pretty labor unfriendly management team... to say the least.

However, my take is this: this airline is a profit machine. The last 2 years, we have been one of the most profitable airlines in the country. This place runs very very lean, but it's designed for maximum profit.

While I despise the way the management team thinks about labor, I believe this company will be very successful. And I believe we can survive the next recession better than most other airlines.

Now, about that contract...

Not weighing another offer other than giving up a decent 91 gig if I make the move, but definitely willing to make the sacrifice if things go as advertised. I've had a chance to talk to a couple buddies at F9 and just wanted to get a little more input from the group on the direction and growth going forward. I've read through many of the threads and there hasn't been a lot of discussion that I could find regarding growth and the future. CP at the meet and greet eluded to 200+ aircraft and 4500 pilots within 10 years. Obviously that is pretty aggressive growth!!

A. They're already doing that.
B. They won't do this. Their other airlines already have large orders on the books.
C. Sure, the world could get hit by meteor and there wouldn't be anyone to fly the airplanes, because we'd all be dead...

The airplanes are coming. Franke wants his global airline empire to link the world. F9 is part of that plan. He'll pay for it, and he knows it.

Or...Indigo starts a fifth airline or buys a 100% stake in an existing airline, and allocates some (or all) of the F9 planes to that new entity. Something they are within their rights to do since, until an IPO, they own 100% of F9.

I hope we get all 134 and more but until we do you can call me incredulous.
