What are reserve line min days off? How hard are reserve guys being worked? Also what are the reserve shift times?

What are min days off for line holders? Are lines generally commutable?

I’ve tried searching but didn’t find much if any info on initial qol items.

Minimum 12 days off for reserve and line holders. Most lines have more than 12 off. There are AM, MID, and PM reserve windows all with 2 hour call out (3 hours to push) that can be bid to your liking. How hard you work on reserve depends on the base and month. Ranges from beating guarantee to having to go to the sim for landing currency.

Just like at any airline, if you live in domicile, reserve is not bad. Under the recently ratified CBA at F9, effective May there are several enhancements to reserve, including:

1. Reserve can pick up trips on days off like line holders, and the pay goes on top of guarantee.

2. New reserve lines that have all 12 of your days off continuously, or in 4 days blocks, but not sure how many will be offered.

The lines with all 12 off in a row (FDO lines) will be no less than 10% and no more than 20% of all reserve lines in domicile.

The lines with 3 different blocks of 6 RDPs in a row will not exceed 10% of all reserve lines in domicile (but no requirement for the company to build any). My guess is in 31 day bid periods they won’t. Can’t be giving reserves an extra day off.

These are enhancements for the company, not the pilot... this was a concession in every sense of the word... oh, and now you can only swap to have 3 day reserve blocks... another concession... the nc did a deplorable job looking out for reserves

Not sure I agree. Picking up on a day off to go on top of guarantee is win/win IMO.

It might be a win for you when you get a paycheck here and there but this undermines your seniority... it makes it so much more efficient for the company... why do you think we have the 125% over 82... they want you to work your a$$ off... paying you more means they have to hire fewer pilots and ultimately that means you stay on reserve longer and remain more junior as time goes on...

Plus all it says in the contract is crew scheduling shall not unreasonably deny such a request... the punishment?? A letter to the association explaining why... that’s tight language... I can’t remember a time the company or scheduling has been “reasonable” since I’ve worked here so your supposed benefit is probably going to be more difficult to cash in on than you think... I guess we’ll find out in a few days....

Flying on days OFF......screw that

Just to be clear they can’t say no to picking up through aggressive reserve into a day off. Unless a buffer is exceeded.
