Default Routes & Bases

Wondering how many routes from a station they get to before considering a base? Looking at the flights loaded into the reservations system, I see 10 destinations being added from Boston by years end.
Has that route expansion been announced?

More seriously, it not so much about number of destinations as it is flights per day, maintenance availability, crew overnights, potential to reduce cancelations by staging crews, etc.

10 destinations out of one location is nothing for us. That might just be 2 flights a day since we don't do daily service to most of our destinations.

Thanks. Didn't know their magic formula. Most of them don't start until after August is looks like

I’m sure routes have something to do with it. But what you’d really have to look at are the amount of hotels the company pays at that out station. There is a threshold they have and when it crosses that threshold they look into making it a base. Other factors; maintenance contracts, catering services, growth potential, and above all else profits for the company.

I stayed at our crew hotel in Vegas right before it was announced as a base. I asked the hotel manager how many rooms Frontier had booked and she said between 75 and 100 every night.

That's a lot of hotel rooms.
