Unfortunately, that story is not correct.

The cockpit crew arranged with a deadhead cockpit crew member to perform the contamination check prior to departure. When the time came, the contamination check couldn't be completed due to visibility out the cabin window. This was all evolving in the cabin and appeared to be FA generated/instigated. The captain opened his window after the FA reported the information from the deadhead cockpit crew member and saw what is presented in the photo that has been shared on the internet.

The system, at least on the flight crew's end, worked. The problem with the vendor is a totally different story. The encouraging thing is, the company fired the vendor immediately, without question and the FAA became involved quicker than ever before.
