I would second guess it everyday and weekends! $37b in debt, they’ll have gone into bankruptcy twice by the end of this decade

I wonder why they haven't done it already.

It's like pulling off a bandaid. No one wants to do it.

But I also think the optics of them declaring bankruptcy so soon after taking utterly massive Govt handouts is terrible. A lot of people will be ****ed off

I’ve not been hearing of many going to SWA. Maybe the long upgrade time or the fact that their days off are sometimes taken from them by getting rolled into a day off?

^^^^^this^^^^^^

They are waiting for something like a recession or “unsustainable” oil prices to pull the trigger on bankruptcy

They’re cash flowing. That’s why.

Contract 2018 value>value of FLICA Alerts and Chex Mix. Apparently we still can get the big things.
We do get one free soda per leg if we want, I think I’ve covered my FLICA bill with Diet Cokes by now.

Serious answer:
If it's trivial the company won't waste their (or the unions) time and give it to you. If the company fights it it's not trivial.
It's like picketing. Doesn't do anything. Until it does.

Nickel and dime them till they give up.

At NK we are supposed to get our hotel key in the van. Happened twice in 10 years, but I can't grieve hotel issues, only ALPA can. I think it's BS. Make them work for everything.

You are not wasting energy if you are tying up company resources at the same time.

While I agree with what your saying the $4 is not something that has been discussed at trying to negotiate out and it wasn’t put in place by indigo. Next round maybe that changes? There’s nothing to fight off. You can’t nickel and dime someone without practice or language. Alpa doesn’t want to get into the habit of bringing baseless arguments in front of arbitrators and rightfully so. Past practice has existed for over a decade on the flica fee. Why can’t you dispute hotel issues if you have the language as you have suggested by mentioning your supposed to get a key on the van?

So I wonder why so many think they will file then if money is coming in.

I get what you’re saying but you are comparing your contractual issue to our non contractual issue. At least that’s the way it appears currently.

Medicals are required, luggage, black shoes, black belt, shaving equipment, ect. All of these are required but not paid for but we don’t consider those items to be nickle and dimed. But a can of pringles and $4 for Flica send people into this weird outrage.

There has been a couple of competing articles. One says don’t worry about it, they have 15B in cash, the travel industry is strong, and they have a young fleet. The other says they have more debt than liabilities and around 2B in interest per year alone and they have to have everything go right to not be in bankruptcy in a few years.

I’m a pilot and didn’t get a degree in complex financial situations involving the largest airline in the world therefore can only guess ya one of those articles is probably right.
