If F9 is doing it right, then who is doing it wrong? Oof.

I must be an odd ball because I don't have a whole lot of desire to work for Delta. Its a combination of commuting and being junior to a bunch of 25 year old Instagram influencers. I think my projected seniority is in the 3000#s. But I'll admit this is sort of hard to ignore right now.

Third isn’t about delta or any other carrier, specifically. This is about the current state of our industry.

57 just started class according to LinkedIn. Looks pretty cramped in the room they are using.

From the hiring curve thread, Delta has hired nearly 8000 pilots over the last 10 years. I think if you're not in your 20s you are behind the curve.

That looks attractive on paper, but examine the actual reality. No one upgrading now is likely living in base or holding a line. Commuting to reserve in NYC to fly garbage trips for years and years? No thanks. Never mind that even line holders at DL are constantly reassigned and deal with many of the same operational issues we deal with. There are a lot of reasons to go to DL, but it's still not for everyone.

Yup it’s a big flow of the industry. I have 28 years left and to most people that would seem like a good amount. But it’s only as good as the people around you. If they all have 35-40 and are in front we’ll then it’s sort of a crap shoot.

I also have around 30 years left, live in base, and don’t really care to be behind all of those younger than myself. I would have to commute forever if I leave here vs no commute currently. I have very little interest in leaving and instead am trying to focus on ways to make this place better. You’re not the only one.
