As a commuter you can expect to spend at least 7-8 nights in base per month, possibly more.

This is not a commuter friendly place, and at the same time, you'd be dumb to move to base to avoid commuting as their "dynamic and nimble" business model allows for quickly leaving a market and domicile.

So basically don't commute and don't move. And don't work here. Or anywhere. Just hide in an underground bunker because we closed one base one time

We’ve closed two bases.

So 2 times…

or you have roughly a 20% chance of having your base close.

Internal company email, I think it was back in October? Idk I was checked out and had a class date, didn’t care anymore. Big long email from the VP of ops. Pls bro, don’t go to airlines with fun liveries! You’re the most professional and you’re first in line to get to a legacy, I promise! Don’t leave!

The email literally said “fun liveries are enticing, but . . . Do your research.”

Very interesting. If it was an actual company email, it sounds like quality fodder for our union to use in next negotiations. Last one included the company accusing actual APC Forum bloggers of collusion. I remember a blogger named “Stiflers Mom” specifically mentioned.

It might be worth a laugh for the mediator if we produce a Skywest memo where they compare themselves to us - especially pay wise…

We also shrink or stagnate bases, so moving to DFW for example expecting growth and upgrade maybe a huge disappointment if something else becomes the new hotness.

Fair enough. I was just laughing at the advice of "we are bad for commuting, but also don't move to a domicile" leaving you no choice at all. Just made me laugh

I'm a commuter who lives near ORD. MCO is the only place I would consider a reasonably safe option for a move. I wouldn't trust anything else long term. I'm pretty senior, my schedule blows even though I get what I ask for. What I really want as far as trips don't exist.

Move where you want to move. Just dont move to DEN.

I wouldn't worry about base closures anywhere in the near future, except MAYBE MIA. But even then, its still too good during the peak vacation months to give up.

Is it difficult to get DEN as a base?

#makecommuterslivesgreatagain

3. 18 hour long call
2. Set % of 4 and 3 day trips
1. Open back up a Chicago base
