Default commuting question

Been searching old threads looking for this and haven't seen anything.

Have been thinking about applying at F9 - at a Regional right now and looking at next step.

Does F9 provide commuter hotels?

Absolutely not. That’s a regional thing, not one major does. You will get a hotel for new hire training and that’s about it.

As a commuter you can expect to spend at least 7-8 nights in base per month, possibly more.

Thanks, folks. Appreciate the quick response.

I've got family within a 1-1.5 hours of two bases, and I currently live about a 2 hour drive - traffic permitting - from another, so attempting to make a move from the regional to F9 is compelling. Just weighing options.

QOL, even being a 2-hour drive away, is going to be way better at F9. If I were in your shoes I wouldn't even hesitate to come here from a regional, even SkyWest (because apparently there's a lot of SKW FO's drinking the coolaid over there I hear, that going to an ULCC is a lateral move).

Something that isn't talked about enough by people staying at regionals is the huge 401k contribution you'll get here.

You know how the saying goes, you can lead a horse to water... blah blah

Yeah, that 401K matters for sure.

Been studying the FFT site to get a sense for seniority. PHL or TPA would be good for me - either close to home or have a free place to stay.

Do you expect DFW to grow/go junior?

DFW is the only base growing right now since the bids for its opening just showed up last month. Rumor is they want it to be a huge base but just based on gate space alone I have my doubts. In all honesty for FOs everything except Denver is junior since we are growing fast and attrition is high.

Internal company email, I think it was back in October? Idk I was checked out and had a class date, didn’t care anymore. Big long email from the VP of ops. Pls bro, don’t go to airlines with fun liveries! You’re the most professional and you’re first in line to get to a legacy, I promise! Don’t leave!

The email literally said “fun liveries are enticing, but . . . Do your research.”
