Also some crazy people like me that live in base want a good 4 or 3 day trip. I don’t know what your bases look like, but I assume it’s similar everywhere. PHX pairings either are locals (or 2 days) that report at a god-awful 4:30-5:00. Or later with a midnight release. Or the aforementioned 2 day that isn’t really a 2 day, with the 23:00 report and 00:05 release 2 days later. I don’t even live very far away, and even I want to avoid the office-like daily car commute.

Say whaaaat? I see a ton of noon departure one day and noon the next day for that base. FLL, BWI, DTW. Super easy and commutable on both sides.

Frankly I didn’t scrutinize too hard, since I’ll be on reserve for quite a while. Balked at all the early mornings, since that’s not really my thing. I noticed a few mid day, especially 2 day, but seemed like it was the big minority in my domicile. My past regional flying wasn’t great, usually wasn’t high credit. About the only thing I could count on were mid afternoon/early evening day 1 that ended around the same time day 3 or 4. Miss traffic both ways, made it more worth my while to come to work. I’ll gladly let a lot of you have locals. But I know I can’t be the only one who lives in base and wants a good several-day trip. Good for commuters and natives.

Oh I’m definitely not a day trip kind of guy. Too long of a day with driving and what you said…either too early for me or get back late. But that’s really all a day trip can be for utilization purposes me thinks.
