I assume Frontier wouldn't take over 100% of Spirit flying, probably closer to 70% due to overlap. I could see F9 stopping hiring or even furloughing more until the engine issues are fixed and they figure out how to run the airline as 1. It will be largely overstaffed.

Exactly this, they will do anything to postpone a new CBA. There are MANY pilots waiting to walk out the door. As someone who came here for QOL and not necessarily just money even I am considering leaving if I get a call, and I will suffer through the BS to be more secure with my career longevity.
Everyone thinks this is a good idea. Reality is two businesses that can’t run properly on their own is a train wreck waiting to happen. Not to mention sure it’ll be good for the west coast guys but the east coast people seem to not realize that there will be a massive shift in seniority on the east coast bases. All these guys barely holding a line will most definitely be shuffled to reserve or worse a new base entirely. Also let’s not forget NK stopped hiring last year in September/October. So all these new guys that have come on will feel that pain at F9 IMHO. This is just smoke and mirrors and all to consequential right before an earnings report. Almost like hey look here while I cover the pile of SH!T over here with my other hand.

I actually hope so. I wish nothing but the best for NK guys but speaking for myself, who has been on property less than two years, I don’t see any way I don’t get completely hosed by a merger. Organic growth is great and what we all hope for. Adding another 3000 pilots (by whichever integration they agree to((unless a staple which won’t happen)) would mean a huuuge drop in seniority, QOL, and future potential. Hope I’m wrong.

Seems to me that NK is on the ropes. $3B+ debt for a $200M valuation. I think NK is costs are way too high for getting people on airplanes. To cut pay scales would make some NK employees flee. The senior group would stay regardless. Just a bad deal in this environment for NK survival. If there is a buyer, it would have to be a really really good deal.

It's a major missed opportunity not allowing snakes on the plane tails, just because having the snake body wrapping around the fuselage would look awesome.
With that said, the first Spirit plane repainted HAS TO BE PEBBLES THE HAMSTER:

As someone who isn't super smart on mergers/acquisitions, how would this benefit the pilots from either group? I can see the argument for two becoming a stronger one, and that long-term stronger airline would be beneficial, but as a junior guy, I feel many junior folks would just get the short straw. I'm not sure how this benefits F9 in really any way, especially considering the overlap in routes.. Again, I know that I'm ignorant to a lot in this realm..

Well, as long as the executives and owners are making out like bandits, I suppose all is well. Economics are for smart people like Bill Franke and Barry Biffle. Everything will be ok.
