Or their union could hold firm on the fact that this is a 70 seat airplane operationally speaking and not give up anything on rates. No reason to take a pay cut just cause they pull 20 seats out of your current airplane your flying.

Your union needs to be careful here. Taking a paycut is a dangerous precedent. United pilots don't get less for flying the 110 seat PS configured 757.
While I agree caution should be taken, a lot of regional pay scales are based on seat counts, not specific aircraft models like mainline carriers. Just FWIW. |
FWIW, SkyWest still gets paid CRJ900 rates and E175 rates for flying the CRJ900 atmospheres (70 seats) and E175SCs (70 seats).

Don’t take the pay cuts. It’s a 700 with less seats and should be paid accordingly. |

This isn’t a 50-seat aircraft though, I don’t care what anyone says. If the union lets the company get away with paying 50-seat rates for this plane, that is a HUGE concession, which is setting precedent for other pilots to get ****ed over.
I agree wholeheartedly, however, their management disagrees since they are going into pay scale negotiations. |

Also, there seems to be some confusion: The Bombardier press release is written in a way that suggests these are factory new aircraft and some are suggesting that current G7 CRJ-700s will be retrofitted with this new cabin and will be re certified as a CRJ-550. Is G7 getting any factory new aircraft or is it retrofitting current -700s or both? If G7 loses the Delta flying this year (not rooting for that, just making a statement) that will help with the staffing of the CRJ-550 in the UAL system. |
Didn't want a different pay scale for the 900s and now want another one for the 50 seaters? I hope Teamsters puts their feet down. It's the same freaking airplane.

The planes are being retrofitted I believe.
