I agree. The way I read it: request 100 million or more, you cannot furlough. Requesting less than 100 million, you can furlough and reduce route structure. The article is a bit oddly worded though and I had to read it a couple times, so I could be wrong

Add another to the long list of reasons of why you should never chase a bonus.

How could anyone possibly have seen this coming?

A downturn, which is basically what this is? About half the posters on here.

That doesn't answer the question. With the economy going gang busters and the majors hiring like crazy, there was no indication of this happening. It took about 2 weeks or less to basically destroy the airline business. No one could have possibly predicted this.

many of us predicted a downturn in the very near future. But none of us thought that it would happen this quickly.

Based on what information? Downturns are inevitable. Thanks to the federal reserve and our monetary policy, but that's a whole different discussion. I agree no one saw this coming this quickly. But no one is "predicting" anything. I could predict the sun will rise tomorrow. When it does, does that prove I had some supernatural foresight of the event? Of course not because it was bound to happen by nature. Semantics I suppose.

nah, cracks were showing. The yield curve inverted. International relations.
