I was talking with someone who said they wouldn't go to gojet because their pilots formed an alter ego airline and crossed the picket line. If this guy was this clueless I wonder about the others. The purpose of these forums is to be better educated of your industry. I know word travels fast and gets distorted but please don't call gojet pilots scabs, for that to happen there had to have been a strike and they would have had to cross a picket line.

However, just go back to your own website where you explain how you " ...became a UPS pilot: Jetcareers.com - Perspectives: ... ..., UPS" and imagine that when you finally got hired at your first 'real' airline hoping for a quick upgrade in that Commander 500, or Convair 640, (or RJ) so you can move on to 'bigger and better things', your company throws you a curve ball that you never imagined was even possible. That’s how Gojet deal happened. I am always polite and courteous to GoJet pilots however I do not agree with their company’s existence.
As far as history lesson, the TSA pilots’ union would not budge and demanded more pay for larger airplanes – the company said they were negotiating with the union however instead they simply created an alter ego airline where they hired a bunch of pilots straight to the left seat just so they wouldn’t have to negotiate with the TSA union anymore. Initially, they could not fill their classes because the GoJet pilots were so despised in the regional airline community so company went ahead and cancelled several TSA classes since “they no longer needed that many pilots” (my friend was in one of those classes) and then they had the audacity to come in and offer the about to be laid off pilots classes at Gojet instead.
That’s as if UPS cancelled several new hire classes and offered those pilots jobs at Yangtze River instead. Different airlines, same principle. Yes, Gojet pilots have since voted in their own union – Teamsters, however that does not change their murky history…
Disclaimer – I never flew for TSA however I was one of the STL based American Connection feeders and have numerous friends at TSA. What was done at TSA should have never happened – there’s no solidarity amongst airline pilots, especially the major airline pilots do not care about the plight of regional airline pilots and therefore scenarios like that will happen again…

Well the way I understood it was TSA management offered 700's to the pilot group at TSA for the 50 seat rate. TSA pilots told management where to stick it and management said .."Ok fine then we'll create GoJets to fly the 700's for that rate..and by the way you're getting furloughed... did you want a job at gojets?" SO the guys that took management up on the offer definately screwed over their brothers at TSA's attempt to get a decent pay rate for the 700's... now I understand that those guys were on furlough..and being on furlough now I understand...however if nobody had been willing to go to gojets then they would have had to put those airplanes on the TSA list and they would have been offered recall. The point is... they severely undercut everybody on that and brought down the profession...so at least in this case give Mesa a break...they got their undercutting the honest way

I think the point is...don't get over it...it just encourages more of the same. I don't spend my days hating gojet but I also won't encourage anyone I know to go there if only because I have many friends at TSA. Interesting sidenote, I have a buddy at TSA who just got furloughed and they're offering preferential hiring to those guys at GoJets...hmmmm
