The beard stupidity is about vanity, from the millennial look-at-me crowd. Nothing more.

Everybody has the right to wear their hair and grow a beard however they’d like, or at least however their body will let them do it. And dye that hair any color they want. And those spiky things embedded in their skull? Those too. It’s a free country. Tattoos too for that matter. And if you want to pierce something? Something of yours that us...you go guy (or gal or something non-binary).
Just don’t come crying when nobody hires you or shows you the door. |

The airlines don't, there's no sign of religious exemptions for beards. I also don't recall ever seeing any religious headgear on US airline pilots, although you might have better luck with that than beards. Quite frankly US airlines don't WANT their pilots to appear outwardly religious, too many people would be offended one way or another (or scared in some cases). Not about right or wrong, it's about creating an atmosphere that keeps the customers happy... ie, business. |
I’m actually surprised we have not yet heard about any discrimination lawsuits related to airline policies on beards, tatoos, piercings or wearing a Hajib while on duty.
