Quote: Because like I said, airlines are always 10 years behind, but air lines are 50 years behind. Actually, we are updating our uniform to single-breasted jackets, so even Delta is slowly changing.

That's true, but as I said, each year the age group that doesn't like beards is drastically shrinking. Our culture has not only changed so much from the 60s, it has also widened. The idea of what a professional looks like varies so much that it's almost meaningless to even try to define it.
Yeah, but today is today. How many of your most lucrative customers are you willing to cede to the competition to permit beards to be worn today?

I highly doubt a high-value passenger is going to see a beard and decide to give up their airline of choice.

The answer is zero...

Possible downside: Maybe a few pax will get nervous. HR and CP's have to fight a running battle to adjudicate abuses of beard rules.

Possible upside: Might attract a few pilots who are so wrapped up in their personal grooming affectations that it will impact their career choice.

If beards, why not man buns? Why not men with shoulder length hair? etc.

Or, my ancestor, B. Gratz Brown. He ran for Vice-President in 1872. How would PAX react to being greeted by him? https://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl...MygAegUIARCxAQ

Again the fear aspect? Forever a trade as much profession. Hold the line on public image, status. Resolved: Beards now approved at the discretion of Chief Execs & APC Kahunas. https://youtu.be/0FT3SmZ_zx0

I wonder if JohnBurke and Meto were protesting President Lincoln's election?

"If you allow a President with a beard, next thing you know they will have facial tattoos and piercings!"
