Driving down to Newark from Albany early morning on Mar. 10th, to pick up someone from a Continental flight.
Will be approaching from I-287 southbound ...blah-blah......
Having never driven there before prompted the questions...
What is the best route to take to get into the airport?
Any strategic parking suggestions? Easy In vs. Easy out?
What is the car traffic like around the airport on a Sat. morning?
Appreciate any comments..........................

I live in NYC and had been to Newark numerous times. Parking is good if you get it in the car park, no-one will bother your car there. If you park it on the ground floor it will get bumped, scratched, and tires might get slashed. Oh and when you get into NYC take the Belt there vs. other highways cause Belt is the closest and fastest. You might hit traffic though.
Oh and traffic until NYC might be good. But in NYC its traffic all the time so you might get delayed.

Thanks for posting;
We will be bypassing NYC by taking I-287 - which will take us west and then south of NYC. WE will be heading east towards Newark from 287
Here's the rest of the route from I-287 southbound
9: Merge onto NJ-24 E via EXIT 37 toward I-78 E / SPRINGFIELD. 10.3 miles Map
10: Merge onto I-78 E toward LOCAL LANES / GARDEN STATE PARKWAY / NEWARK. 7.6 miles Map
11: Take the RT-21 N exit- EXIT 57- toward NEWARK / NEWARK AIRPORT. 0.3 miles Map
12: Take the ramp toward NEWARK INT'L AIRPORT MAIN TERMINALS / NEWARK INT'L AIRPORT NORTH AREA. 0.3 miles Map
13: Take the US-1 S / US-9 S ramp toward NEWARK INT'L AIRPORT MAIN TERMINALS. 0.3 miles Map
14: Take the ramp toward DAILY PARKING P1 P3 P4 / VALET PARKING / ECONOMY PARKING P6 P7 / RENTAL CAR RETURNS.

Know which road/highway you want and REALLY watch the signs leaving the airport! You take the wrong exit and it can screw you up for an hour.
Otherwise once you get going it's not difficult.
