Asking people to stop doing that is like asking water to stop being wet.

Loosing battle my friend.

Would you rather listen to this kid scream for 8 hours across the pond?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv1aczlrMsk

OR

listen to 121.5 and hear WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK YERRR ON GUARRDDD MEOW MEOW MEOW over and over and over and BLOOCCCCKKEED a billion times over?

I mean if you were on that flight and didnt want to use 121.5 to block out the screaming i suppose you could tune to the HF radio on the observers ACP and let yourself drown in white noise static over HF.

I'd drop that kid and his old lady in Reykjavik.

chief pilot: Okaaayyy and WHY exactly did you divert into Reykjavik? The dispatch ACARS says it was a pax problem but you didn't elaborate further only to say an i quote "screaming child driving me insane" Care to explain?

I wish there were a technology which would allow me to crawl along the headset cord and physically strangle all these idiots who play games on guard!

It’s called an emergency frequency for a reason.... And that reason is not meowing or making stupid ass beavis impersonations.

Somehow the broken condoms playing all these games just don’t get it. They don’t seem to recognize that they can block actual emergencies with their BS..... I have actually heard a plane the controllers were trying to talk down Through an overcast being blocked by “yer onguaaard” and “meow, meow, meow” during an actual emergency.

The FAA has put out a warning that they are looking for these bastards. I don’t have an ounce of sympathy for anyone they catch. I’d be all for full permanent revocation.

It’s mind-numbingly annoying to constantly hear that crap every single day on guard. The northeast is especially bad with countless regional pilots goading certain mainline pilots who in turn take the bait and keep the idiocy going. Maybe just ignoring the regional pilots on guard would make them lose interest. Seriously, the more attention you give a petulant child, the more they’ll engage in whatever behavior is getting a rise out of you.

How high up do you have to be to hear it? Could a lowly Cessna putting along at 6,500 hear it or do you have to be up in the flight levels?

You hear it more in the FLs because the receiver range is larger, but depending on where the transmission is coming from then - yes of course you could hear it at lower alts.
