Cathay only flys the A330, 340, 777 and 747. Maybe the 380? The 1011 was retired in the 90s sometime. Sad. if I ever strike it good, I'm going to buy a 1011. LOL! Like John Travolta and his 707. I'll paint mine in Pan Am colors. Maybe the prototype paint job.

One of my favorite J/S rides was on a retiring DAL L1011-500 where the CA took it to .90 in cruse! That bird was truly fast and well ahead of its time..

Wow! .90?!?!? I think that's better than the 727-100.

I think both the 747SP and L1011 are among the fastest aircraft ever built (transport).

The L1011 is the reason I'm addicted to this stuff. I grew up three miles from STL and could hear them starting and knew when one was flying over. The growl and smoke that those things produce is something to behold.

If I remember correctly, the max cruise for the 747SP was something like .94 on the meter. Plus it could go JFK-Riyhad non-stop. The SP is another fantastic aircraft.
