Green New Deal! (Air Travel Unnecessary)

When someone tells you exactly what they want to do, you should ignore them? If it was just her looney ass this wouldn’t mean anything. The fact that every major dem presidential candidate has gone out of their way to endorse her idiotic plan should tell you something.
It won’t happen, but only because:
1) it’s not remotely possible
2) we will stop her

She's going to get the base out for sure... Trump's base.
My wife has some well-connected democratic friends. They are frankly terrified of this lady. She's going to turn off moderate dems, and serve as a rallying point for the republicans. They are watching in horror as their party appears to be in jeopardy of handing over another presidential election which *should* have been theirs to lose. The candidates participating in the mad lemming rush to the far left may not be able to swing back to the middle for the general election... cue attack ads with candidate espousing neo-communism in one pane, next to OAC in the other pane.
Reality, she can't accomplish squat because it would collapse the economy and all but the most ardent political fringe loonies have to eat and like to buy things. But the media is amplifying her voice to levels all out of proportion to what she can actually do.

Solar and Wind can only work if we invent the battery technology to store that energy. Right now we have 8 mins of battery capacity nationwide. We will need a full 72 hours of backup storage. When asked about that problem, AOC says she's going to find someone to invent the technology.

I never claimed that I don’t care what New Yorkers think. I’m more just in awe and wonder of an elected official from there. I’m not even denigrating New York. I’m just amazed that this congresswoman was able to convince enough voters to vote for her with this kind of agenda, and amazed that more seemingly mainstream Democrats are buying into the agenda.
The other thing is, let’s say we set out to do all of this, and 20 years later we were broke and the climate was still changing (hint, it still would be). Would the answer be that we didn’t do enough, or that this was a colossal waste of resources?
A lot of people can get on board with not pouring biohazards into lakes and rivers and reducing emissions and sustainability initiatives, but so many times this stuff goes so far beyond that and the cost is staggering.

As our President would say.

If anyone needs a good laugh, read up on the new proposal from NY Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Here is a link to an article about it
If you don't like NPR, feel free to google it. Lots of articles. Regardless of what part of the political spectrum you fall into, it is unbelievable to read the details of the proposal and not be amazed by it.
remember, she was voted into office by Americans who believe in her vision.

Most don’t even know what her “vision” is. They were just promised free stuff.

We've gone from "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" to: "Ask not what you can do for your country, just demand your country give you: free healthcare, free college, free assistance, and tax the rich to pay for it." What's worse is some Dems (lunatics like Michael Moorse) are embracing her types as the new face of the Democratic party. She herself claims to be a Democratic Socialist. It's just lipstick on a pig called Socialism. It does not work, will never work, and especially not in this country.
Occasional Cortex envisions something like the Scandinavian countries when it comes to socialism stuff in this country. What she refuses to see or acknowledge is that the population there is relatively homogeneous with a desire to work and contribute to society, and that everyone pays their share of taxes (even on the lower side), and that the country is relatively small with lower population that is CONTROLLED with strict immigration. Not open borders, nor do they have the illegal problems we have here. Someone has to pay for that too. What they have there will not work here. We have too many different races and classes of people, each with different backgrounds and work ethics, and far too many will have no incentive to work hard or strive for the greater good when they are guaranteed healthcare, guaranteed college education, etc.
