To clarify, not on duty or deadheading however while non-revving(which apparently includes commuting). Some do, most don't.
As ex-SKW, I still do it if I travel on them. I don't do it on other airlines because I'm not in tune with their cultural nuances. The JB thing seems like a management power trip, I don't blame guys who have to do it so they can commute to work, but other than that they should decline just to make the point. |

So I looked up some background on this. When I was a young buck, I knew CAP flew lots of 172s and there was also a King Air that used to operate out of my local airport with a Cap Flt callsign. Not being familiar with CAPs fleet, I just assumed that was a normal thing. Turns out private aircraft can operate for CAP with a CAP Flt callsign with prior arrangement. Who knew?

Exactly the same with the USCG Auxiliary... you'd be surprised at some of the nice boats doing that duty.

I nominate the Frontier CA for closing all the overhead bins on a Delta 737 on his way to row 20 before passengers finished boarding. When helping hurts...

I nominate the passenger on a southwest flight that shoehorned herself into the middle seat next to me from BWI last week. She then proceeds to sniffle and pop cough drops the entire flight. Three days later I come down with a terrible cold. She was one of the last ones on a full flight with nowhere for me to move. And I was on a paid ticket so I wasn’t just lucky to be getting a ride.

I'm at a point now where if they can't re-seat me I'll get off the plane rather than sit next to typhoid mary. Rather waste a few hours than a few days, or more than a few days.
