At Skywest, it was a cultural thing, not required or "encouraged" in any way but everyone did it when nonrev/DH. Unless you're running late. I didn't do it in view of the pax.

As ex-SKW, I still do it if I travel on them. I don't do it on other airlines because I'm not in tune with their cultural nuances.

The JB thing seems like a management power trip, I don't blame guys who have to do it so they can commute to work, but other than that they should decline just to make the point.

Exactly the same with the USCG Auxiliary... you'd be surprised at some of the nice boats doing that duty.

And they have some snappy suits.

I nominate the Frontier CA for closing all the overhead bins on a Delta 737 on his way to row 20 before passengers finished boarding. When helping hurts...

If he was getting a seat, the enemy was pretty much in place.

Because it had become wildly inappropriate for its location, like “a streaker at Queen Victoria’s funeral”. We nearly had to close it entirely, but the move kept it alive for now.

I nominate the passenger on a southwest flight that shoehorned herself into the middle seat next to me from BWI last week. She then proceeds to sniffle and pop cough drops the entire flight. Three days later I come down with a terrible cold. She was one of the last ones on a full flight with nowhere for me to move. And I was on a paid ticket so I wasn’t just lucky to be getting a ride.

I'm at a point now where if they can't re-seat me I'll get off the plane rather than sit next to typhoid mary. Rather waste a few hours than a few days, or more than a few days.

I was on a paid ticket to fly my line check an hour after we landed. Getting off would’ve been hard to argue with the boss.
