Default Summer Jobs

Hey guys and gals, getting ready to head home for summer and I've been looking for any job involving aviation. What do you guys recommend? I live about 20 minutes from SNA so anything in that area would suffice. Thanks in advance.

Banner Towing. I am actually looking into it here in Ohio. It seems like a good way to build time. Hopefully you have your commercial, otherwise there probably isn't too much you can do unless you want to be a line man. You could also fly skydivers.

Ok, gotta ask, where in OH is there even a banner tow op? Wouldn't think there'd be much demand or need for it.

Two in Toledo, and two in Columbus that I know of off the top of my head. Nothing you are going to build some crazy time at but still some companies out there.

Yeah, I'll only have my PPL and Instrument rating so I think a flying job is pretty much out of the question.

I worked at FBO's: fuel, tow, wash, park, anything to do with planes. I got my first corporate job that way.

I will second the FBO recommendation. It is generally fun. You get to work around airplanes. You get to marshall/park them, tow them, fuel, service, and sometimes wash them.
Being a lineman will teach you some good stuff also.

si... right this second I work for USair as a rampie... i would recommend that if you can live off the salary and live close (which you do). gets you good experiance for the industry. and you'll know what its like to be one of the orange dudes when you start pulling up in your 73 :P although i'm leaving this job in 2 weeks to work at an FBO that is a lot closer to home and that pays a bit more than my gig now.

Thanks for all the input guys! I actually might have something at a flight school, not sure what it is just yet but my aunt knows a guy who works there that could hook me up. I'll definitely keep everything else in mind though.

My dream summer job is to wash ATP planes, mow the lawn at ATP locations, and do mx work on their building. After sundown head over to the mall and recruit for their 0 to RJ captain flight training program.
